RE: Hows The Weather SOB?

Pie de la Cuesta, Acapulco...clear blue sky, gentle rolling surf, average high 92F with a low of 75F. Humidity today 63%. The gentle breeze off the ocean makes it better than perfect.

RE: Economic Down-Turn Effect on RV Park Fees

The economic downturn is having little effect here at Playa Luces Kamping in Acapulco. The rates are the same as last season, 5500 pesos/month ( a great deal at todays exchange rates) for the ocean front sites including a private dipping pool and palapa and table. Good 30 AMP power is provided where you stay in the park, prices are less in the back of the park. There are also tenting sites for 200 pesos which will accommodate most size rigs if you choose to dry camp. Meals can be ordered pool side,( CLEAN 1/2 olympic size) at the mirador or at your own site. You can even create your own menu including filet mignon. The owners really do try to keep the rvers happy going so far as to pick up fresh food items at the mercardo if you don't want to head to Acapulco.
There have been 2 recent cancellations, one due to health reasons so as of this writing there are still a few front row site available Jan.3 or 4th, depending on the rig size. The first two rows are booked solid over the holidays but here would be some room in the treed area while waiting to move up front.

RE: Census of rigs and national origin in Mexico Parks

Playa Luces Kamping - Acapulco
8 Canada
1 USA
1 France
2 Mexico (one RV and one tent from DF)
~13 front row ocean sites, all with private dipping pools
~10 second row sites some with private pools
~over 40 sites in the back in the trees, of which at least 10 will accommodate large rigs and also provide 30AMP.

RE: Help With Mexico City Route

Four out of four rvers coming through Toluca this past month have been stopped by police. Some paid, we didn't. Our crime was towing our toad!!! They let us "go" after 45 minutes. The two rvers we spoke with going thru DF were stopped and paid a 'fine'! We have friends coming thru Mexico tomorrow so we shall see how they dol They have done it many times in the past.

RE: Tenacatita RV & Trailer park

After dark we were attacked by mozzies. Even though they have 30AMP you are not allowed to run your A/C so at nite the mosquitoes and other bugs come in. We stayed one nite!!! Great area and love to walk the beach but we could not take the bugs. This was last November.

RE: When ya leaving? Where ya crossing?

Finally, we have a date. We are moving back into our RV tomorrow and will hit the road at the latest Friday Nov. 14. We hope to put in long days and cross into Mexico Nov. 17 at Eagle Pass and be drinking margaritas on our beach site @ Playa Luces, Acapulco by Nov. 21. Twenty two nites in a hotel has almost done us all in, especially the weiners. We are pleased with the work on the rig and have enjoyed Elkhart, Indiana.

RE: Celestino

In each of the 3 parks there are a few limited spots with an ocean view. The rest are but a short walk to the beach. All three parks have chairs overlooking the water for you to enjoy.

You will love Paracho. While you are in the area be sure to spend some time in Patzcuaro and area. It is a delightful area full of wonderful sights.

RE: Celestino

We stayed at Punto San Miguel for 10 days last March and loved it. We will be back in March. Lots of neat things to see on the beach. However we prefer the warmth of Acapulco for the greater part of the winter.

RE: Campsites in the interior of Mexico?

Several of the RV parks in Cuernavaca are open, not sure which. It is a short drive ( 3-5 hours from Acapulco). Pepe's (page 234 Church) near Mexico City is open. Please send us any updates you find.

RE: Money Exchange

We usually call our local Money Mart and have them bring in Pesos. Their prices are competitive (better than the banks) and then we don't have to worry about finding somewhere once we leave home. One less thing to worry about.

RE: Cost of RV sites

Moisheh, is that 15.00pesos/day? Has to be or the RV parks would be out of business. I know that more and more big rigs are coming into the campgrounds and running their AC 24hours/day. When we use the AC it is not more than 3-5 hours per day. We prefer the natural breezes. What bugs me are the people who come into the park and run their AC with the windows and door open then complain about the high daily rate!!!
